Death of Simon R. HUSS.

Simon R. HUSS, an old resident of Fairfield, passed away at his home in the city, Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. Mr. HUSS was a quiet, thoughtful, kindly man, and held in high esteem by all during his long residence here. His later years have been burdened with infirmity and his last sickness of short duration, ended in perfect peace. Mr. HUSS was born at Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, December 31, 1824 being past 81 years at the time of his death. He was married fifty-four years ago to Elizabeth GORDON, in the old Pennsylvania home(.) They came to Jefferson county thirty years ago, living for the first years on a farm eight miles northwest of town, and removing to Fairfield about fifteen years ago, where they have since resided. A part of this time Mr. HUSS and J. W. GORDON were associated in conducting the bus line(.) Mr. and Mrs. HUSS had no children of their own, but have brought up several children, among them the nephew, Mr. GORDON, who was associated with him in business(.) Mrs. HUSS is thus left alone by her husband's death, except that their home has been home to others, and a large circle of warm friends gather in sympathy about her. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Pearse Pinch of the Congregational church, Mr. HUSS having been a member of that body. The funeral will be held from the home, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
