SAMUEL HUFFMAN DIED AT FLORIS

Samuel HUFFMAN, a former resident of Jefferson county and an old soldier, died this morning about seven o'clock at his home at Floris. He is survived by his wife and the following children: James, William and Bert of Floris, John of Bloomfield, Mrs. Millie McCLEARY and Mrs. Minnie THOMPSON of Floris, Mrs. Walter RAINES (sic - RAINS) of Packwood and Mrs. Frank RIZOR and Mrs. William JAQUES of this city. He was about 72 years of age. Funeral arrangements have not as yet been made.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank RIZOR and children, Mr. and Mrs. Walter RAINES and Mrs. JAQUES left this morning for Floris.

HIRAM HUFFMAN TO BE BURIED HERE

The funeral services for Hiram HUFFMAN, who died early yesterday morning will be held tomorrow morning at nine o'clock from the home in Floris and then the remains will be brought her (sic) for burial. There will be short services at the grave in Evergreen cemetery at about 11 oclock.

HIRAM HUFFMAN

Hiram HUFFMAN was born near Bentleville, Washington county, Pa., March 21, 1848, and died at his home near Floris, Iowa, May 11, 1923, aged 75 years, 1 month and 20 days. Mr. HUFFMAN came to Iowa with his parents to Jefferson county in 1855 when only seven years of age and grew to manhood in this county. He enlisted at the age of sixteen years in Company I, 45th Regiment Iowa Infantry, under command of Colonel Moore and served till the close of the war. On receiving an honorable discharge from service he returned to his home in Jefferson county. Later he was united in marriage to Miss Anna RAMEY. To this union was born four children, James E. of Floris, Iowa, Mrs. Will JACQUES (sic) of Fairfield, Ia., and Mrs. Walter RAINS of Packwood, Ia., one daughter dying in infancy. The wife and mother preceded him in death August 16, 1881. He was again married August 31, 1884 to Mrs. Alice HART. To this union was born six children, John HUFFMAN of Bloomfield, Ia., Mrs. Frank RIZOR of Fairfield, Ia., Bert HUFFMAN, Will HUFFMAN, Mrs. Orren THOMPSON and Mrs. Clyde McCLURE all of Floris, Iowa and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Lily LEPPER of Wyoming. Twenty-four grand children and three great grandchildren, all of whom with the wife survive. A good neighbor, a loving husband and an affectionate father has gone to his reward.

... Mr. and Mrs. W. A. RAINES (sic) and Alice went to Floris Saturday. Mrs. RAINES' father, Samuel HUFFMAN, passed away at that place. The remains were brought to Fairfield Sunday morning and interment took place there. ...
