C. HODGE DIED ON WEDNESDAY
Funeral services for former Pleasant Plain man to be Friday

Chalmer A. HODGE, 77, resident of Fairfield for the past seven years, passed away at the Jefferson county hospital at 8 o'clock last evening. Mr. HODGE had been in failing health for several months, and suffered a stroke on Sunday evening.

Services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Hoskins Funeral Home in charge of Rev. S. P. Williamson. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. HODGE was born January (sic - July) 28, 1864 in Illinois. He was a resident of Pleasant Plain until 1934, when he moved to Fairfield. His wife preceded him in death December 12, 1937.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Clifford GLASGOW of Des Moines, Earl HODGE and Miss Velma HODGE of Fairfield; and two brothers, Charles HODGE of Winterset and Homer HODGE of Long Beach, Calif.

... --Mr. and Mrs. Clifford GLASGOW of Des Moines were called to Fairfield by the death of Mrs. GLASGOW's father, Chalmer HODGE, who passed away a the Jefferson county hospital, on Wednesday evening. Mr. GLASGOW returned to his home last evening, but Mrs. GLASGOW will remain until tomorrow.

Chalmers HODGE, a well known former barber of Birmingham died at the Jefferson county hospital Wednesday and was buried Fridey (sic) in the Evergreen cemetery. His wife had preceded him in death but is survived by two daughters and a son.
