Page 3, Column 3Came to Jefferson County in 1854.
David HINKLE, who died at Harvard the 15th inst. (note: in Wayne Co., IA), became a resident of Jefferson county in 1854. He resided on a farm west of this city until about twelve years ago, when he went to Wayne county to make his home with a son, Hon. George W. HINKLE. Mr. HINKLE was born in Washington county, Ind., and was in the eighty-sixth year of his age. His wife, who came to Iowa with him, died many years ago. Three children survive the parents, George W., Miss Susan of Harvard, and J. M. HINKLE of Butte, Mon. Mr. HINKLE was an industrious man, honest and upright in his dealings with his fellows, and there are many friends among his old neighbors who will learn of his death with regret. The remains were brought to this city for interment and were laid in the Evergreen cemetery Thursday morning. Funeral services were held at the home of Geo. W. Ball, just north of the city.
