Page 2, Column 4DANIEL G. HIGLEY WELL KNOWN MERCHANT DIED TODAY.
D. G. HIGLEY, one of the best known of Fairfield's older residents and business men, passed away at 11:30 o'clock this morning at his home on East Burlington street. Mr. HIGLEY had been in poor health for some time and confined to his home for several weeks.
Mr. HIGLEY was the son of Daniel and Nancy HIGLEY and was born July 10, 1843, in Polo, Ill. As a youth he came to Iowa, having been a teacher in the Commercial Academy at Mt. Pleasant from 1862 to 1865, when he moved to Fairfield and engaged in the drug business. He has, therefore, been in active business while a complete change has taken place in Fairfield in commercial circles.
September 29, 1868, he was married to Hannah Frances AMBLER at [following text inverted] Mt. Pleasant and to them was born [end inverted text] one child, Mrs. James F. WILSON, of this city. He is also survived by three brothers, T. F., now of Bolton, Ga., Marshall, of Chatanooga, Tenn., and Simeon, of Oregon.
Mr. HIGLEY was the first agent for the present American Express company in this city and was formerly a director in the Fairfield National Bank. He was a member of Clinton Lodge, No. 15, A. F. & A. M., and of the Eastern Star.
Funeral arrangements have not as yet been made.

The funeral services for D. G. HIGLEY, who died yesterday morning will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the late residence on East Burlington street and the remains will be interred in Evergreen cemetery. Dr. Parsons and Judge Leggett will have charge of the services.

Daniel G. HIGLEY, a pioneer druggist of this city, passed away at his home on East Burlington street Monday about noon. He had been in poor health for a long time and recently had been confined to his home.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at two o'clock from the home, conducted by Dr. Parsons and Charles D. Leggett. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery. The business houses of the city will be closed during the hour of the funeral.
Daniel G. HIGLEY, son of Daniel and Nancy HIGLEY, was born at Polo, Ill., July 10, 1841 (sic - 1843). He came to Iowa at an early age and from 1862 to 1865 taught in the commercial school at Mt. Pleasant. He then came to Fairfield, where he has been engaged in the drug business.
He was united in marriage with Miss Hannah Frances AMBLER at Mt. Pleasant September 29, 1868, and she and one daughter, Mrs. J. F. WILSON, survive him. He is also survived by three brothers, T. F. of Bolton, Ga., Marshall of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Simeon of Oregon.
