HICKENBOTTOM rites Tuesday

Marshall E. HICKENBOTTOM, 69, 807 W. Harrison, died at 11:47 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home. The Rev. David Kennedy will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Society.

HICKENBOTTOM lived his entire life in Jefferson County and was a retired farmer, carpenter and implement dealer.

He served as a county committeeman for 12 years on the Jefferson County Agricultural Stabilization Committee, and was a former board member for the Jefferson County Mutual Insurance Company.

Marshall E. HICKENBOTTOM was born March 6, 1915, in Jefferson County near Parsonsville. He was the son of Chester L. and Flornce (sic) HOLLANDER HICKENBOTTOM. His marriage to Bernice FLINSPACH took place Feb. 24, 1935, at the Methodist Parsonage in Fairfield.

Surviving are his widow; two sons, Jerry, Fairfield; and Jim, Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandsons; a sister, Frances MARTIN, Fairfield; and four brothes, Virgil, Leslie and John all of Batavia; and Hugh, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
