A. Bertha HEMM, 81, 802 South Third, died at 1:15 a.m. today at Jefferson County Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home.

HEMM rites set Friday

Services for A. Bertha HEMM, 81, 802 S. Third, who died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday at Jefferson County Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard K. Wallarab officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to First Presbyterian Church and the Fairfield Public Library.

Mrs. HEMM was born July 26, 1905 in Etna, Ill., the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Edward L. DARLEY. She had lived in Des Moines, Davenport, and for more than 40 years in the Fairfield community. She attended Coe College and taught home economics in the school systems at Chapin and Williams. She married George J. HEMM June 23, 1930 in Stella, Neb. He survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Ila Mae HEMM, Renton, Wash.; a son, Roger D., Peru, N.Y.; two grandsons, Erich D. and Curtiss S. Four sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. HEMM was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Alpha Circle, Order of Eastern Star, and Lionels.
