FAIRFIELD -- W. Harold HARRISON, 88, of 1103 S. Main St. in Fairfield died at 8 a.m. March 11, 1997, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.
He was born June 17, 1908, in Pekin to Walter H. and Mary MOWERY HARRISON. He married Sarah E. BAILEY Aug. 4, 1929, in Fairfield; she died March 22, 1994.
He had lived all of his life in Fairfield. He worked for John Aukland East End Burlington Street Service Station in 1928; he then took over Harrison's DX Service Station for 37 years. He retired Sept. 3, 1972. He worked part time at Behner Funeral Home from 1972-90. He served in the United States Army in Germany during World War II. He was a member of Free Methodist Church in Fairfield.
He is survived by a daughter, Marilyn J. CROSS of Des Moines; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Faith HARRISON of Fairfield; and a brother, Walter Jr. of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Denver and Fred; and two sisters, Viola SALTS and Blanche COPELAND.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. today at Free Methodist Church, the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to his church.
