Last rites for Al P. HARPER will be held Saturday at the Raymond funeral home.
The services will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Funk in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Al P. HARPER, 81, passed away about 6:10 p.m. last night at the Nelson Nursing home where he had been a patient since Aug. 25. He had been in failing health the past 18 months.
HARPER was born July 26 1878, in Henry county, Iowa, the son of David and Catherine CARBAUGH HARPER. He was reared and educated in Henry county, and was married to Margaret L. REED on Feb. 20, 1900, at Fairfield. She passed away Dec. 21, 1952.
He was affiliated with the Free Methodist church and a long-time resident of this community. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter.
He leaves the following children: Dave HARPER, DeKalb, Ill.; Mrs. Victor SAMUELSON, Atalissa, Iowa; Mrs. Loren HALSEY, San Diego, Calif.; Claude HARPER, DeKalb, Ill.; Mrs. Wayne McINTIRE, Fairfield; Hugo HARPER, Portland, Ore.; Rex HARPER, Roscoe, Ill.; Gene HARPER, Fairfield; Robert HARPER, DeKalb, Ill.; and Mrs. Max SHAFFER, Vencia, Italy.
He is also survived by one brother, Ralph HARPER, Fairfield; 43 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
