Donald Leon HANSEN, 95 of Washington, died Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington (note: in Washington Co., IA).

Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. The service will be livestreamed on the Beatty-Peterseim Facebook page and YouTube Channel. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery (note: in Washington, IA). The family wil receive friends from 4-6:00 PM, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Beatty Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be designated to Hospice of Washington County or the United Presbyterian Home.

Leon was born February 20, 1928, in Fairfield, IA, the son of George and Ruby (KEMMEL) HANSEN. He was united in marriage to Betty Louise VAN DeVOORDE, on January 12, 1952, in Fairfield. He served with the Iowa National Guard from 1948-1958.

He was employed with Dexter in Fairfield, Advance Ross in Washington and TX, Perfix in Washington, Goodyear in AZ and retired from Lockheed Martin as a tool and die maker. He also farmed throughout his life. He enjoyed remodeling homes, making grandfather clocks and gardening.

Survivors include his children, Dan (Donna) HANSEN of Colorado Springs, CO, Deborah HANSEN-PENA (Arturo PENA) Center Point, TX, Denise (Rusty) TSCHANTZ of Washington, Dennis HANSEN of Riverside, Ia and Doug (Susan) HANSEN of Holly, CO; 8 grandchildren, Melissa (Tony) TURNER, Trevor (Vani) TSCHANTZ, Elizabeth (Trevor) HANSHAW, Luisa (Adrian SPANO) PENA, Marco PENA, Ryan HANSEN, Jennifer (Dave) NEIBUHR and Chrissy (Gabe) BEARD; 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty in 2020, brother George Jr., sisters Betty MASSENGILL and Lottie RAMBO.
