Michael G. "Mike" WESELY, 72, of Lockridge passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (note: in Iowa City, Johnson Co., IA).

Mike was born on March 23, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant the son of George A. and Lorna Jean (GRAFF) WESELY. Mike grew up on the farm. He graduated from the Fairfield High School with the class of 1970. Mike was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marcia COLEMAN on November 27, 1971 at the Lockridge Augustana Lutheran Church. Mike worked for Blue Bird Midwest in Mt. Pleasant for 32 years in the seat frame department. He went on to work for West Liberty Foods for a year and a half, then started working for Fairfield Community School District as a custodian for 12 years until he retired. He enjoyed this job and the kids.

Over the years he built toys, flowers, and many wooden items and gave them to different family members and friends. He helped Marcia with her day care and touched many young lives over the 24 years. This year he was to be awarded the community award at the Lockridge Fire Department soup supper and auction for his support of the Fire Department. This would have made him so proud! Mike enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and riding his new Ranger UTV.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marcia of Lockridge, his brothers, Dan (Kay) WESELY of Salem, Bernie (Julie) WESELY and Curt WESELY all of Lockridge, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Jackie McLACHLAN and Karla SCHAFER.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to the Lockridge Fire and Rescue Association in his memory. According to his wishes cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
