MRS. GUDGELL DIES IN CITY

Funeral Services will Be Held Tuesday at Baptist Church

Mrs. Anna Burnett (sic) GUDGELL life time resident of Jefferson county passed away at the home of Mrs. West, 306 E. Madison street, Saturday, Augsut 4, at the age of 58 yrs. 10 mos. 29 days.

She is survived by two sons, William of Burlington, George of California and Mrs. Albert DOCKEL (sic - DOECKEL) of Burlington.

A brother William McMULLEN of Cedar Rapids, a sister Mrs. Chas MIRANDA of Birmingham.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church in Fairfield in charge of the Rev. Fred G. Crown at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Interment at Evergreen cemetery. The remains will be taken to the church at 1:00 p.m.from the Catcott Funeral Parlors, in Birmingham.

He is an old time resident of Fairfield having left here in 1906 for Rock Island and is in the train service of the passenger department of the C.B.&Q. Railroad between Rock Island and St. Louis. He says Fairfield has improved much since he lived here and he well remembered the chains and hitching posts around the park. ...

ANNA BIRDETT GUDGELL

Anna Birdett GUDGELL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McMULLEN, passed away at the home of Mrs. West, 306 E. Madison street, Aug. 4, 1934, at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 29 days.

She is survived by three children, one daughter, Mrs. Albert DOECKEL and two sons, William GUDGELL and George GUDGELL, also a deceased daughter, Phebe Ann, passing away in infancy.

One sister, Mrs. Charles MIRANDA, and one brother, William McMULLEN, living, Cora CROWNER, Mattie CARMICHAEL, Samuel McMULLEN and Edward McMULLEN of whom are deceased. There are grandchildren surviving and a host of friends.

The funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Fairfield, on Aug. 7, in charge of Rev. Fred G. Crown. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.

Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.010. Her husband has been found as L. C. in census records, as Curg in their marriage record from Wapello Co., IA, in 1901, and as Lycurgus on son George's birth certificate. It appears there was a separation from Anna, as there is a second marriage for him in 1923 in IL to a Birdie EPLER. He died in Alton, IL, Nov. 18, 1942, and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Moline, IL.
