Mrs. Catherine GRIFFIN died at her home in this city Wednesday afternoon, from rheumatism of the heart. She had been ill for two months or more with a complication of diseases. Deceased was a native of Ireland, and was born in 1830. She came to the United States in 1848, and was married in Utica, New York, in 1850, to Dennis GRIFFIN, who died in this city in 1878 (sic - 1888). The family came to Fairfield in 1862, and this city has since been its home. Nine children were born of this marriage, six of whom are now living--James, Patrick, Mary, Kate and Maggie in this city, and Mrs. Annie DOBBINS at Council Cluffs (sic). In the neighborhood in which Mrs. GRIFFIN had spent so many years of her life she was loved and respected as an excellent neighbor and a kind friend. As wife and mother she discharged all the duties of this life faithfully and well, and she was entitled to all that love and kind attention which the members of her family bestowed upon her in her affliction. The remains were interred in this city Friday, Father Nodler conducting funeral services at St. Mary's church.
