West Des Moines

Cheryl "Sheri" Diane COOP, 69, of West Des Moines, IA and formerly of Fairfield passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Steve Beeman officiating. Burial will be held in the Antioch Church Cemetery near Fairfield immediately following the service. Memorial contributions in Sheri's honor may be directed to Jeff COOP and mailed to 4408 62nd St., Urbandale, IA 50322. Funds will be used for monument restoration at Antioch Church/cemetery. Sheri grew up in Fairfield, IA the daughter of Bernard and Benna BOLEY COOP, who preceded her in death. She was a proud graduate of Fairfield High School and furthered her education at Southeastern Community College, where she earned an Associate's Degree as a Medical Assistant.

Her professional journey began in Ottumwa, working for Dr. Emanuel and the surgical orthodontist, Dr. Ketchem. Sheri's career took her to Austin, TX, where she continued to excel in her field, working for Dr. Morgan, an ENT specialist. Eventually, her heart called her back to Iowa, where she became the office manager for Dr. Dennis Porto in West Des Moines. Sheri's worth ethic, combined with her warm personality, made her a beloved figure among colleagues and patients alike.

Sheri's life was enriched by her close-knit family. She is survived by her brother, Jeff (Linda) COOP, and her four sisters, Becky (Steve) McINTIRE, Brenda (Jerry) PAULSEN, Kim (Mark) WALIGORA, and Kristen GONZALEZ. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on through her nieces and nephews, Carrie (Mark) WILLS, Tara (Andy) GOODMAN, Josh, (Stacey) McINTIRE, Chelsea (Alex) ARTHUR, Sarah COOP, Moriah (Erick) VALERIO, Ethan PAULSON, Haley PAULSEN, Jennifer WALIGORA, and April LEGGS, as well as her great-nieces and -nephews.

Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Matthew WALIGORA, and a brother-in-law, Alex GONZALEZ.

Beyond her professional accomplishments and family life, Sheri had a passion for the simpler pleasures in life. She was an avid antique collector, always on the hunt for unique treasures. Sheri was also a gifted baker. Her baked goods were the highlight of family gatherings and a true expression of her love and creativity. Sheri will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends she made along the way.
