PATRICK JOSEPH LAUX
Phoenix, AZ

Patrick Joseph LAUX (58) passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2023, while vacationing in Puerto Peņasco, Mexico. Pat was born in Davenport, Iowa to John and Rosemary (BYRNE) LAUX. He grew up in Iowa and Kansas, spending most of his formative years in Fairfield, Iowa where he attended Pence Elementary School and Fairfield Junior and Senior High School. Pat graduated from Iowa State University with a business degree and remained a loyal and enthusiastic Clones fan. After relocating to Phoenix, he obtained a second degree in accounting from Arizona State University.

Pat met and married Stacy SPRINGER; they would later divorce but remained close friends. Together they had two children; daughter Marlie and son Tyler. It was as a father that Pat found his calling. He loved Marlie and Tyler unconditionally and took such joy in them. He shared with them his eclectic taste in music, thirst for adventure and travel, sense of humor, love for offbeat comedy, and his general goofiness. But they most remembered the way he cared for the community. Pat had an undeniable concern for those that were less fortunate and always taught the importance of recognizing this. He was actively involved in a variety of his children's sports and extracurricular activities through which he instilled the values of friendship, teamwork, and overall kindness to others. They will forever miss his random cat videos and his frugal yet practical DIY home renovations.

Pat grew up in a large family, surrounded by love and chaos. In addition to his 4 brothers and 3 sisters, he had munerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents that he made beautiful memories with. Because he was a big kid at heart, his nieces and nephews adored him and remember him as the "fun uncle." They cite cherry bombs in Mexico, 4th of July fireworks, and bootleg Napster CDs among their favirote childhood memories. Pat's siblings recall with fondness his childhood obsession with ketchup (he was convinced it was a food group), his remarkable ability/willingness to walk on his hands, and his love of cats, Mexican food (dating back to Buckboard Annie's), Mexico, and tequila. He loved all sports, had taken up boxing in college, and had completed several triathlons. It was a good thing he remained athletic as he was a great cook and loved to eat.

Pat was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Gregory who died as an infant and John Jr., who passed away only three weeks before Pat, as well as cherished grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his children, Marlie and Tyler LAUX (AZ), his siblings and their spouses, Kevin & Sarah (MA), Kathy & Burley COPELAND (AZ), Brian & Mary (IA), Joan (IA), Chris & Josefina (AZ), and Ann (IA), his former spouse, Stacy SPRINGER LAUX (AZ), as well as numerous treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Pat's family would like to express appreciation to all that have sent their condolences and provided love and support. They invite you to join them as they celebrate Pat's life, along with his brother Johnny's, on September 30th, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at 1101 E Jefferson Avenue, Fairfield, Iowa, 52556. Condolences can be sent to that same address c/o Joan LAUX. Future celebrations of life will be held in Phoenix, AZ and Rocky Point, Mexico on dates yet to be determined.
