JOHN WILLIAM LAUX JR.
Fairfield

John William LAUX Jr. of Fairfield, IA, born 9-23-58 in Davenport, IA to John W. LAUX Sr. and Rosemary BYRNE LAUX, died 8-19-23 after a brief hospitalization and hospice stay.

John, often called Johnny by family, was the second of nine children. John had a photographic memory and a thirst for knowledge and could talk fluently on topics such as music, anthropology, history, humanities, religion, art, and politics. It was never fair playing board games with him!

John had an Associate of Arts degree, was a Journeyman Electrician, and served in the Air Force from 1908-83 (stationed in the Philippines).

Over the years John's work life included short order cook, antique rug salesman, DJ, traveling vagabond, handyman and electrician.

John was an avid music lover. He also loved being outdoors, arrowhead hunting, cooking (and eating!), being a home aquarist, antiques and collectibles and going "thrifting."

John is survived by seven siblings: Kevin (Sarah) MA; Kathy (Burley) Copeland AZ, Brian (Mary) Brighton, Joan, Fairfield, Pat, AZ, Chris (Josefina) AZ, Ann, Fairfield; and multiple beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Gregory, and cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of John's life will be held on September 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1101 E Jefferson Ave., Fairfield, IA 52556. Bring your memories or any pictures and fun stories about Johnny. We miss him already.

Thank you everyone so far for your support, and further condolences can be mailed to the above address.
