Stephen L. (Steve) COLEMAN, age 68, of Richland, Iowa, passed away Friday,. August 11, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA). In accordance with his wishes his body has been cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Steve's honor to Noah's Ark Animal Shelter may be mailed to the family at 205 East North Street, Richland, IA 52585. Steve was born to Charels D. and Jennie Lou (HARWARD) COLEMAN on March 11, 1955 in Keosauqua, Iowa. Steve spent his childhood in the Fairfield, Packwood and Ollie areas and graduated from Pekin High School in the Class of 1973. He married Kathy Rae MORGAN on January 24, 1975 at the Friends Church in Richland. Together they had two sons, Shawn and Andy.

Steve worked for a couple factories after high school, during this time he learned to drive a semi from his father. Trucking was in his blood; he drove a truck for 35 years. He stopped driving for a while when his boys were in sports and worked for Farm Bureau selling insurance. After that he bought his own truck and drove for another 15 years, before starting work at Dickey Transport in Packwood as a driver and later as the safety director. While he worked at the transport Steve also taught others to drive a truck as an instructor at Indian Hills Community College. He retired in 2020 from the transport.

Steve was an avid golfer and frequented all of the local courses, he loved to fish (especially at the family pond), play cards, watch drag racing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy of Richland, his mother, Jennie CHACEY of Ollie, two sons; Shawn (Jennifer) COLEMAN of Packwood and Andy COLEMAN (Kristina CONGER) of Linby, a brother; Mike COLEMAN of Iowa City, six grandchildren; Alec COLEMAN, Kennedy COLEMAN (Elijah CAREY), Erika COLEMAN, Levi COLEMAN, Autumn COLEMAN and Brody COLEMAN, a great-granddaughter; Elizabeth COLEMAN and her mother Cynthia OBERLE, and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather Rex CHACEY, father, and four stillborn brothers and one stillborn sister.
