Douglas Hisel BROWN passed away peacefully at his home in Richland on August 15, 2023, at the age of 64. Known for his loving nature and friendly demeanor, Doug was surrounded by his family in his final moments, a testament to the strong bonds of love and unity he fostered throughout his life.

Born in Fairfield on October 1, 1958, to Bob and Bettye HISEL BROWN, Doug spent his formative years in his hometown, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1977 where he still holds the two mile relay record from 1977. He furthered his education at Indian Hills Community College and the University of Northern Iowa, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.

Doug's life was profoundly enriched when he married his beloved wife, Luanne Marie WARD, on October 17, 1981, in Fairfield, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Their love story, spanning over four decades, was marked by mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering companionship. Together, they welcomed a daughter, McKensey, and a son, Tyler, into their lives, making their family complete.

A dedicated professional, Doug spent many fruitful years at Dexter Foundry in Fairfield. He held various positions in the company, retiring as a Quality Control Engineer in 2008. His work ethic and dedication to his craft were commendable, earning him respect and admiration from his colleagues. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Doug was known for his diverse interests and hobbies. He was an avid golfer and disc golfer, and he loved riding his Harley. In recent years, he discovered a new passion in woodworking, showcasing his creativity and craftsmanship. He was a member of Abate of Iowa District 14. Doug could be seen almost every morning driving his dogs, Allie and Snickers around southeast Iowa, the trio was in charge of getting the groceries. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends, cherishing every moment spent in their company.

Doug leaves behind a rich legacy of love and friendship. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 42 years, Luanne; their children, McKensey BAINBRIDGE (Joe) of Albuquerque, NM, and Tyler BROWN (Eva PENROD) of Richland; three grandchildren, Emily SIMPSON, Alena BAINBRIDGE and Tinleigh HOFFMAN; two brothers, Ron BROWN (Sharon) of Fairfield and Phil BROWN (Cindy) of Marion; and two sisters, Nancy HUFF of Fairfield and Barbara McLARNEY (Joe) of Fairfield. He is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Bob; and a brother-in-law, Phil HUFF. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived and a man well-loved.

As per Doug's wishes, his body has been creamted and celebration of life at the VFW in Fairfield will be on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorials in Doug's honor may be brought to the celebration of life or mailed to the family at 307 East Harrison Street, Richland, IA 52585. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com. His spirit, embodied in his love for life and his warm, friendly nature, will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
