LYLE JESSE WOLF
Packwood

Lyle Jesse WOLF passed away on July 24, 2023, at the age of 86. He was born on June 11, 1937, in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Forest and Irene (SHUTE) WOLF. Lyle started school at Irving in Ottumwa. In 1947 the family moved to a farm north of Packwood. He went on to attend Packwood Consolidated School. Lyle worked as a farm hand for area farmers during his high school years.

He married Judith Ann BRAGG, September 1, 1955. They became parents to daughter Cheryl Ann and son Allen Wayne WOLF. They were married 57 years.

Lyle farmed and worked for other farmers. He also worked at Harken's Meats and then at Thermogas of Richland delivering bottle gas and then was their bookkeeper. In 1975 he went back to farming and raising cattle, which he so enjoyed. After retirement he became a collector of toy tractors, trucks, Iowa Hawkeye memorabilia. Lyle enjoyed good card games and was a great cribbage player. He was a Charter member of the Packwood Lions and served as treasurer for 44 years.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Gary SCHULTZ; 7 grandchildren and spouses, Jeremy and Lori SCHULTZ, Jared and Jeri SCHULTZ, Justin and Jennifer SCHULTZ, Jason and Cherise SCHULTZ, Marcus WOLF, Sarah and Nathan TENDICK and Michael and Mary WOLF; 9 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; son, Allen; his parents, Forest and Irene WOLF; two brothers, Gary WOLF and Max and wife, Maxine WOLF; his parents in laws, Coleman and Juanita BRAGG; and his brother-in-law, Gary BRAGG.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Packwood Quick Responders or Woolson Friends church.

Visitation for family & friends will be 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home. Funeral wil follow the visitation starting at 1:30 p.m. with Pastors Frosty VanVoorst and Jerry Hoover officiating. Burial will be at Packwood Cemetery.
