Hattie Lucille HOOVER, 95, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Van Buren County Hospital.

Visitation for family and friends will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home. A funeral service will start at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Burial will follow the service at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and can be mailed to Sherry PECK, 29184 170th Street, Stockport, IA 52651.

Hattie was born May 1, 1927, in Pleasant Plain, Iowa, to Elwood and Bertha (DUNSMOOR) NASH. She married Dale MANNING in 1946. They were married 29 years before he passed away in 1975. Hattie was blessed to find love again and married Jack HOOVER in 2001. He passed away in 2003.

Hattie graduated from Brighton High School. She taught at the rural schools in Washington County and worked at Harper Brush. Hattie loved to sew many projects for her family. While her children were at home, she always had a big garden. Hattie also had many pretty flowers beds (sic). She also enjoyed reading. Most important was spending time with her family and friends.

Hattie will be missed by her four daughters, Judith (Hank) BODYK of Oxford, CT, Carole (Bill) GEVOCK of Pleasant Plain, Joan (Tom) NELSON of Camdenton, MO and Sherry (Rodney) PECK of Stockport; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Stella RICH of Washington and Beatrice STULL of Ollie; sister-in-law, Evelyn NASH of Newton, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Bertha DUNSMOOR; and her two husbands, Dale MANNING and Jack HOOVER; and nine siblings.
