Carol Elizabeth KURTZ, 78, of Brighton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

Carol was born in Harper, Iowa, on March 30, 1944, the daughter of Bernard and Alice REDLINGER. Carol graduated from St. Elizabeth's in Harper. She married Kenneth KURTZ on December 7, 1968, in Harper, Iowa. They would have celebrated 54 years of marriage in December.

She worked for Jefferson County Mutual Insurance for 10 years before starting a family. For most of her life, she was an accomplished homemaker and bookkeeper. Carol and Kenny farmed in southeast Iowa for nearly 40 years before retiring in 2004. She enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carol was proud that all three of her children graduated from The University of Iowa and she enjoyed following their careers.

Carol is survived by her husband, Kenneth; children, Bill (Michelle) of Urbandale, Iowa, Cheryl (Eric) of North Liberty, Iowa, and Michael (Rebecca) of St. Charles, Illinois; and seven grandchildren, Nathan and Emily KURTZ, Drew and Katie HODGSON, and Giulianna, Nicolette and Anika KURTZ. She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. Memorials for the Brighton Volunteer Fire Department can be left at the church or mailed to Kenneth KURTZ, 1016 Pleasant Plain Road, Brighton, IA 52540. Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, Iowa, is assisting the family with arrangements.
