Carl GARMOE, In Business Over 50 Years, Dies

Carl E. GARMOE, longtime insurance and real estate agent in Fairfield, died at 7:10 a.m. today at the University Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA). He had been in failing health for some time and seriously ill the past six weeks.

Funeral services are pending. The body is at the Raymond Funeral Home.

Carl E. GARMOE, 80, was born May 21, 1888, in Winfield. He was the son of William D. and Lois THOMPSON GARMOE. He was reared and educated in Winfield, attended the Burlington Business College and State Teachers College at Cedar Falls.

He was married March 6, 1911 at Burlington to Mabel STEPHENS who survives. They moved to Fairfield in August, 1915, where he joined his father in the insurance, real estate and loan business.

After the death of his father, GARMOE was later joined by his son, Earl, who now operates the business.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, a member of the IOOF since 1911, and a 50-year member of IOOF Lodge No. 4. GARMOE was also a member of Iowa Encampment No. 6.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ted PLOWMAN, Douds; one son, Earl, Fairfield; and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by two children, one sister and a brother.

GARMOE Funeral To Be Thursday

Last rites for Carl E. GARMOE, Fairfield businessman, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilson Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

GARMOE died Tuesday morning at the University Hospital in Iowa City after a serious illness of the past six weeks. He had been in the real estate and insurance business in Fairfield for over 50 years.

NOTICE OF PROBATE OF WILL OF APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTOR, AND NOTICE TO CREDITORS

In The District Court Of The State Of Iowa In And For Jefferson County

In The Matter Of The Estate Of Carl E. GARMOE, Deceased.

To All Persons Interested In The Estate Of Carl E. GARMOE Deceased:

You are hereby notified that on the 17th day of June, 1969, the last will and testament of Carl E. GARMOE deceased bearing date of the 14th day of May 1956 was admitted to probate in the above named court and that Mabel B. GARMOE was appointed executor of said estate.

Notice is further given that any action to set aside said Will must be brought in the District Court of said County within one year from the date of the second publication of this notice, or thereafter be forever barred.

Notice is further given that all persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned, and creditors having claims against said estate shall file them with the clerk of the above named district court, as provided by law, duly authenticated, for allowance; and unless so filed within six months from the second publication of this notice (unless otherwise allowed or paid) such claim shall thereafter be forever barred.
