FairfieldBryan Christopher HANCOCK died June 5, 2022. He was born April 12, 1953 in Rexburg, Idaho, and grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Bryan's parents were Clem and Adell HANCOCK. Bryan was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bryan is survived by three siblings, Lynn HANCOCK of Salt Lake City, Utah; Sharon HADDOCK of American Fork, Utah; and Darrell HANCOCK, of Boise, Idaho. Bryan is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bryan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patty MILLER HANCOCK. Bryan is survived by his daughter, Virginia May VAN AUKEN; son-in-law, Uriah VAN AUKEN; and his very special grandchildren, Casimir, Ayla Maye; and Violet VAN AUKEN, of Fairfield, Iowa.
Bryan and Patty met in India in 1980, while attending Maharishi's First International Vedic Science Course in New Delhi. They were married in Redding, Connecticut in 1982; and have lived in Fairfield, Iowa since 1985.
Bryan practiced Transcendental Meditation since 1976, and the TM Sidhis, never missing a twice daily meditation. Bryan was an Eagle Scout. Bryan was the drummer in his rock and roll band, "Papa Susie" and "The Chango Roads Show," who toured Canada and locations in the Western United States.
Bryan was a Master Plumber. Bryan was a musician, an author, a gardener, and an artist.
Bryan was an avid bird watcher who could also mimic the bird songs and converse back and forth. He lined one of his bird feeders with glass marbles. Bryan was a perpetual inventor, including a hairdryer rigged to scare squirrels away from the bird feeder, and a mega sling shot to send balls a far distance for Virginia's dogs to retrieve.
Bryan helped build the St. Louis Captal in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, and the Sustainable Living Center in Fairfield, Iowa.
Bryan passed away in the Jefferson County Health Center emergency room, with his wife and daughter by his side. Bryan surprised his heart doctors by leading a full and happy life considerably past their expectations.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2143 S. 32nd Street, Fairfield, Iowa. Bryan's brother, Ret. Lieutenant colonel Darrell HANCOCK, is conducting the service and Ed Peterson will be officiating. Cranston Family Funeral Home is assisting the family.
