Stricken Down by Death.

The sympathies of the people of the entire community will go out to Prof. and Mrs. Geo. D. GABLE in the death of their little son Rex Tuesday evening. He had been slightly ill for four or five days, and was placed under a physician's care Sunday. His illness eveloped into malignant diphtheria Monday and anti-toxine was administered that evening. His system had been so thoroughly poisoned by the disease, however, that even this treatment could not save his life. Rex was an unusually bright little fellow of seven years, and a general favorite with all who knew him. The remains wre interred this morning at 10:30.

Death of Little Rex GABLE.

Prof. and Mrs. G. D. GABLE have the sympathy of the entire community in the death of their little son, Rex, Tuesday afternon. He had been suffering from a slight illness for the past week and had been unable to attend school, but no serious symptoms developed until Sunday, when a doctor was called and it was afterwards found to be a case of diphtheria. Anti-toxine was administered Monday evening from which some benefit was derived. It was again administered on Tuesday, but the poison of the disease had so thoroughly entered his system that this treatment was of no avail. Little Rex was a bright, affectionate little fellow of seven years and loved by all who knew him. The burial took place this morning at half past ten o'clock.

A Sad Death.

Allan Rexford GABLE, aged seven years and two months, died Tuesday evening, about four o'clock, after an illness of four or five days. He was the son of Professor and Mrs. Geo. D. GABLE, of Parsons college. He began feeling badly on Friday and his father went to a doctor and procured some medicine for him, and Sabbath, when the doctor was called, he could detect no sign of diphtheria and thought it might be a case of the mumps, but on Monday it began to assume the nature of diphtheria. About ten o'clock that night anti-toxine was administered with apparently, good results. The child revived and a change for the better was quite peceptible. but after a while it seemed to wear off and he grew worse and the second time the anti-toxine was used there was no response, the entire system seeming to give way, and he continued to grow worse and soon passed away to be, as we believe, forever with the Lord. Little Rex was a very pretty, and an unusually bright child--the (unreadable spot) pride of his parents and will be greatly missed in the home, in the Sabbath school, and when school opens again, there will be one vacant seat and one little voice will fail to respond to his name at roll call.

Death, at any time and under any circumstances, saddens our hearts and casts a gloom over everything about us, but in cases like this, where neighbors and friends cannot lend the helping hand as they would willingly do, and we are left alone in our sorrow, as far as the presence of earthly friends is concerned, it is unspeakably sad. Our hearts, as do the hearts of the entire community, go out in sympathy to this sorely bereaved family. May God's blessing rest upon them with the influence of his holy spirit.

The interment took place at 10:30 Wednesday. A short service, by their pastor, Dr. Magill, was held at the grave.
