Was Fairfield's Oldest Woman.

It is probable that Mrs. Mary SHEPHERD FRUSH, who died in this city Fri-Fairfield. She was born in Jefferson day, was the oldest woman in county, O., (sic) August 4th, 1810, and was in the ninety-fourth year of her age. Miss SHEPHERD was married near the place of her birth, November 5th, 1829, to Henry FRUSH. They reared a family of eleven children, ten of whom are living. One son, George, died in 1870. The others are Mrs. Amanda MOORE, Zarah, Kan.; Mrs. B. E. SPENCER, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Eugene FREEMAN and Mrs. Mary R. ANDERSON, Paola, Kan.; Mrs. John R. McELDERRY, Mrs. J. W. QUILLEN, Miss Sarah, William and John H. FRUSH of this city ; and James W. FRUSH of Anaconda, Mon. Mrs. FRUSH had thirty living grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren, or sixty-two descendants. The family came to this county in 1850 and a year later located on a farm just northeast of the city, which was its home for many years. The parents came to Fairfield in 1869, and the father died here August 23d (sic - 22d), 1874. Mrs. FRUSH became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in young womanhood and held an unbroken connection with that denomination for seventy years. She was undoubtedly the oldest member of the congregation in this city. During her long life here Mrs. FRUSH was greatly beloved for her womanly virtues, her devotion to family and friends, her christian character. The body was interred in this city Monday, funeral services being conducted by Rev. Thos. Osborn and Rev. Alex. Corkey. All the children except the son who lives in Montana were present.
