BataviaJanet Lee SLOAN, 84, of Batavia, passed away at 1:08 p.m. Monday April 11, 2022, at Sunnybrook Care Center in Fairfield. Visitation will be on Saturday April 16, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m. and one hour prior to the service at Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday April 16, 2022, at Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, with Pastor Danny cary officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in Eldon City Cemetery (note: in Wapello Co., IA). In Janet's honor, please wear something red to the services if you are able to do so as that was her favorite color. Memorials to Fairfield Lords Cupboard may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 22199 283rd Avenue, Le Claire, IA 52753. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Janet was born on August 25, 1937, in Eldon, the daughter of Clarence and Irene ACTON SPILMAN. She attended school in Eldon and graduated from Eldon High School and married Clarence Henry SLOAN in Eldon on april 29, 1956. Janet worked for Rockwell in Fairfield for many years and at Books are Fun. She enjoyed going to casinos and painting ceramics. Her favorite country singers were Shania Twain and Alan Jackson and would listen to their music any chance she got and attended concerts with her daughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence.
Left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Dana Lynn TYLER (Jamie) of Le Claire; a son, David Allen SLOAN of West Branch; two grandsons, Josh SLOAN of Oskaloosa and Dave FOX (Mindy) of Le Claire; two step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren, two step-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Marie SWARTZ of Batavia and Virginia BREUMMER of Dover, DE; and many other extended family members and friends.
