FAIRFIELD MAN SIXTH PLANT WORKER TO DIE
Ray FLOYD took seriously ill at Burlington Friday; died today

Ray FLOYD, employee at the Burlington Ordnance plant, passed away at the Jefferson county hospital at 1:05 p.m. today. He took seriously ill while at work at the plant Friday and was brought to the hospital here Saturday evening.

FLOYD's death brings to six the number of plant workers who have died in the last few days. A statement issued by the office of Col. James E. Crawford, commanding officer of the plant, quoted Dr. R. M. Baldwin plant medical director, as saying that the earlier deaths were all due to natural causes. It was reported that FLOYD's death was caused by a heart ailment.

He came to Fairfield six years ago from Green Castle, Ind. He followed the painting trade and worked with Fred Mathers for several years. He went to work at the Burlington Ordnance plant in September 1942.

Mr. FLOYD is survived by his wife and one daughter, Ramona, both of Fairfield, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther FLOYD, of Green Castle, Ind. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Gillis GRIFFITH; Mrs. Paul QUIGLEY, both of Fairfield; Ralph FLOYD, of Chicago, and Ruth Dean FLOYD and Luther FLOYD Jr., both of Green Castle, Ind.

The body was taken to the Hoskins funeral home where funeral arrangements are pending.

Funeral Services For Ray FLOYD Will Be Thursday Afternoon

Funeral services for Ray FLOYD will be held at the Hoskins funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in charge of Rev. S. P. Williamson. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

FLOYD passed away at the Jefferson county hospital yesterday after he had taken seriously ill while at work at the Ordnance Plant in Burlington last Friday.

He was the sixth plant worker to pass away within the past few days, according to reports.

Note: Buried in Lot 3rd.142½. He shares his monument with his wife Irene, however there is no record of her interment on the lot. Ray was the first of her three husbands, and she died in 1995 as Irene SANDERS and was buried in Fort Madison, IA.
