MANY ATTEND FLINSPACH RITES TUESDAY
Body lay in state at church from noon until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Gust A. FLINSPACH were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from the First Methodist church, a very large company of friends and relatives being in attendance. From 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. the body lay in state at the church.

During the entire service there were soft strains of organ music, rendered by Mrs. E. G. Linder. A duet composed of Mrs. Cecile BELLVILLE FERRELL of Brainerd, Minn. and Ellery Kyle of Fairfield sang three hymns, "Sometime We'll Understand," "Gathering Home" and "Sweet Bye and Bye."

Prayer was offered by the pastor, Dr. M. A. Gable, who then read a series of appropriate passages of scripture. The following appreciation of Mr. FLINSPACH, which was prepared by an old friend and former neighbor, John J. Kyle, was then read:

Gust A. FL NSPACH (sic) was born May 5, 1873. His parents Lorenz and Caroline FLINSPACH were early immigrants. They built a farm home near the north line of Buchanan township in th s county. This home was his until marriage Oct. 3, 1906 to Bertha COOP.

They chose as their home another farm in the same township. This remained their home until he was called to rest Feb. 7, 1942 after a long period of a gradually weakening body.

Of his parents' family, two sons died in infancy. Of those who reached mature years three sisters have gone before him: Mrs. Mary KANN, Mrs. Anna D ERS (sic) and Mirs Minnie GORDON, also four brothers, Albert, Martin, Frederic and Robert.

Two sisters and two brothers survive him. These are Mrs. Hannah THOMPSON of Burlington, Ia.; Mrs. Ludy GORDON of Bennington, Neb.; Edward and Frank of Fairfield. The living members of these families with his wife Bertha are one in these days of sorrow and his so numerous friends miss his smile of greeting.

He built his best into his two farm homes and valued in addition to these his country and its social forces that give to such homes their worth. His first connection with the church was in his early youth, when according to the faith of his parents he was confirmed. He later was a member of the Men's Brotherhood of the First Methodist church of Fairfield. Still later he and his wife united with this church.

A neighbor and friend, diligent in business, has passed this way. That inspiration is yet ours.

In a very vivid manner, Dr. Gable pictured the life of Mr. FLINSPACH from the earliest childhood to its close, in the terms of the stern pioneer life of Iowa's early settlers.

The pioneers, with their large families and meager funds knew what hard work meant. But work never hurt anybody. It is admonished in the Bible and is in reality a bless ng (sic). This is especially true when industry is accompanied with honesty and the fear of God.

The honorary pallbearers were Henry Shafer, Frank Witkoski, Charlie Dahl, John Wheatley, Oric Hiatt, Sam Luckman and Edward Emmack.

The active pallbearers were Harold COOP, Raymond COOP, Charlie FL NSPACH, Wade FLINSPACH, Glen Eyestone and Wilburn FERRELL.
