Edwin D. FIEDLER, 803 W. Fillmore, died at 12:15 p.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital following a long illness.
FIEDLER, 42, formerly managed Harrison's Variety Department Store here.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Raymond Funeral Home.

FIEDLER Rites ThursdayFuneral services for Edwin D. FIEDLER, 42, former Fairfield businessman, will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Father Francis Henricksen, Davenport, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa (sic - Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA).
FIEDLER died at 12:15 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson County Hospital following an extended illness. He had entered the hospital March 29.
FIEDLER had been active in Fairfield business and social circles since he and his family moved to this community in August, 1961.
He moved to Fairfield as manager of the new Harrison Department Store which opened on the west side of the Fairfield Square Aug. 16, 1961. The family came to Fairfield from Knoxville where he was associated with the Harrison firm.
FIEDLER was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce in August, 1962, to fill a vacancy, and was elected presient of the organization in 1966. He also served on a number of important committees through the years.
He was elected to the County Board of Education in September, 1965 for a six-year term. Because of business reasons he resigned from the board in December, 1969.
Late in 1971 FIEDLER was forced to retire as store manager because of ill health.
Prayers for a Christian Wake will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, BPO Elks, Knights of Columbus, VFW and in later years a member of the Real Estate Commission.
Edwin D. FIEDLER was born May 28, 1929, in Ottumwa. He was the son of Oliver and Bernice RANDALL FIEDLER. He was reared and educated in Ottumwa.
FIEDLER served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1949, and was recalled to active duty in 1950 for 15 months, serving in the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict).
His marriage to Alice Jean SHOEMAKER took place Nov. 11, 1949, in Ottumwa. The family home islocated at 803 W. Fillmore.
In addition to his widow, FIEDLER is survived by four sons, Kim, Buffalo, N.Y.; Craig, Randall and Scott all at home. Also his parents Oliver F. FIEDLER, Ottumwa, and Mrs. Earl CROSS, Salt Lake City, Utah; and a sister, Mrs. Donna BAILEY, Salt Lake City.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
