TERRY RAYE BONNETT
Fairfield

Terry Raye BONNETT, 77, of Fairfield, passed away February 11, 2022, at home surrounded by family. Born September 19, 1944, in Fairfield he was the third child of Raymond and Elaine (FERREL) BONNETT. His early years were spent in Libertyville, moving to Fairfield after 5th grade. Terry was a FHS wrestler, and active in FFA and 4-H, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1962.

His career included owing the local Phillips 66 and Terry's D-X stations, a NAPA store, and supervisor at Rockwell International, prior to establishing his WLD trucking company. He was a member of the Jefferson County posse, winning a first-place trophy in the State Sharpshooter competition. Terry was a member of the Elks Lodge, a volunteer with "Helping Hands," served on the McElhinny Foundation Board, was a longtime member of the Jefferson County Fair Board, was named the 2021 Grand Marshal of the Fair and attended Word of Life Lutheran Church.

A good mechanic at an early age, he enjoyed racing stock cars and 3/4 midget cars. Terry was also a NASCAR fan. Growing up on the farm, he always had an interest in vehicles; trucks and tractors as well as Corvettes, Harleys, and snowmobiles. He shared these with his son Justin and grandson Cian. Grandpa Terry and Cian shared great times with his tractor. Terry drove tractors to parades, multi-state rides and shows and enjoyed collecting John Deer (sic - Deere) Models and memorabilia. He loved getting family and friends together-there was always room for one more - for hayrides, tractor parades, cookouts and camping weekends. If an inside gathering, you can bet there would be lots of laughter, stories and cards. Terry loved a good prank and enjoyed being the giver as well as the receiver of them. He loved bigger than life and was loved back just as much - he will be missed by so many.

Surviving are his son, Justin (Kat) BONNETT; grandson, Cian BONNETT of Fairfield; grandson, Douglas BONNETT of Florida; granddaughter, Delanie VORHIES of Tennessee; daughter, Lori (Ron) PETERSON, grandsons, Ben and Nate CORCHADO of Colorado; three great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Julie) BONNETT of Florida; sisters, Judy (Lynn) LAURITSEN and Janine PATTON of Fairfield; nieces, Sherry (Rick) GLANCY, Amy ST MIKAEL, Brandee (Joe) HOLDEN; nephews, Jeff (Kathy) BONNETT, Jason (Ann Marie) LAURITSEN, Matt (Nicole) PATTON; many great-nices and -nephews.
