FairfieldTimothy Patrick BREGENZER, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Fairfield on July 20, 2021, surrounded by beloved family members, his wife, Cherry; his nine-year-old daughter; and one of his brothers.
Tim was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the eldest of seven children, to Ray and Mary BREGENZER. His family were devoted Catholics and life-long St. Louis Cardinals fans.
Tim graduated in 1974 from Washington University in St. Louis in Political Science. Drawn to Chinese Studies, he also became a student of Mandarin, Tai Chi and the art of Chinese painting. While attending college, he also learned the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique, which became a life-long practice and inspired him to become a TM teacher. After teacher training in Europe, he moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he ran the TM Center until 1980. He then moved to Fairfield, Iowa, to live and work at Maharishi International University. He never lost his devotion to all things LSU sports.
Tim remained in Fairfield for the rest of his life. He served in several positions at MIU, including bookstore manager, MIU Press, and Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment. Until his retirement in 2019, he worked for many years as sales manager for Link Tools International (USA), Inc., the company through which he met his wife. Link was a client of an international trade company in Taiwan specializing in hand tools, where Cherry worked, and the two met in 2009 when Tim traveled to that country on business. Their daughter was the fulfillment of his dream for a little girl.
Tim was close to nature and took pride in his yard and orchard. He experienced great fulfillment in learning to play the sitar, traveling for several years to St. Louis for lessons.
Yet his greatest joy was his family. In addition to his wife and child, he is survived by his father, Ray BREGENZER, of Waldport, Oregon, and three brothers.
