Ethel M. FISCH

Ethel M. FISCH, 98, of Bettendorf, former area resident, died Monday, Oct. 24, 1994, at the home of her daughter, where she lived.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McGinnis, Chambers and Sass Funeral Home in Bettendorf, where a Rebekah Lodge memorial service also will be conducted. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Farifield. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to St. James Lutheran Church in Bettendorf and the Visiting Nurses Association of Scott County.

Mrs. FISCH was born May 7, 1896, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Harvey and Rosa HART FRAZIER. She married Harry ELDER in 1916 in Fairfield. He died in 1942. In 1947, she married John FISCH in Fairfield. He died 1975. She was employed as a home health-care aide with the Visiting Nurses Association of Scott County until the age of 89. She was a member of Scott Zedoka Rebekah Lodge No. 2 in Pleasant Valley, Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic, and St. James Lutheran Church. Favorite pastimes included working in the lodge, quilting and gardening.

Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis RANK of Bettendorf; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two sons, Raymond and Donald ELDER, preceded her in death.
