Ed F. ELDER, resident of Fairfield for the past 20 years, passed away about 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson county hospital where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. Although he had been ill for some time his death yesterday was sudden and unexpected.
Last rites will be Wednsday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home with Dr. J. Henry Teele in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Ed F. ELDER, 72, was born Dec. 10. 1887, in Iowa, the son of Walter and Effie M. CURRY ELDER. He was reared and educated in South English, Iowa, and had lived in Fairfield for 20 years. His home was at 708 S. Fourth street.
He was a member of the Christian church, and had retired several years ago from the county bridge crew. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
His survivors include the following brothers and sisters: Fred G. ELDER, Fairfield; Mrs. Hattie JONES, Lockridge; William H. ELDER, Fairfield; Mrs. Zilpha DONOHUE, Ottumwa; and Mrs. Clara RANSOM (sic - RANSON), Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews.
