Brighton

Richard Lee HAGANS, 81, of Brighton, died Sunday, afternoon, Oct. 24, 2021, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield. He was born in Fairfield on Nov. 10, 1939, to Paul Ivo "Shorty" and Georgia Vera MILES HAGANS. Richard grew up in Fairfield and attended Fairfield schools. He married Linda Jean HARRIS on Oct 24, 1966, in Brighton. Richard held many jobs including working at Brighton Built Trailers, working as a farm hand for Norman "Eddie" Edwards and he loved to trade horses and hunt raccoons.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of Brighton; and his four children, Deanna FILSON (Gary) of Stockport, Rick HAGANS (Marcy) of Washington, Robert HAGANS (Debbie) and David HAGANS (Kim), both of Brighton; grandchildren, Casey, Shanen, Brandi, Joni, Melinda, Amber, Danielle, Garrett, Cordell, Jordan and Justin; several great-grandchildren; and his sister, Patty Kay HECKETHORN of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Terry "Rooster" HAGANS; and eight brothers and sisters, Hazel "Maxine" HOLMS, Violet M. WYATT, Shirley J. WOLVERTON, Barbara J. SELL, Jackie L. HAGANS, Carol R. BRANSTETTER, Dixie P. HAGANS and Harold HAGANS.

Visitation with the family will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. Private family graveside service will be held at a later date. General memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 107 W. Railroad St., Brighton, IA 52540.
