John W. EDWARDS

John W. EDWARDS, 89, of Rock Island, Ill., formerly of Fairfield, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1993, at Trinity Medical Center West Campus in Rock Island.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Cemetery at Fairfield. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurses Association or to charity of donor's choice.

EDWARDS was born July 31, 1904, in Fairfield, the son of Frank and Elizabeth JONES EDWARDS. He married Ruth VOYLES on July 12, 1934, in Fairfield. She died Sept. 9, 1970. He owned and operated the Blue Star Tool Co. in Rock Island for many years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Davenport Country Club. His interests included making telescopes, playing golf, working with leather, hiking, and oil painting.

Surviving are two sons, J. Michael and Stephen R., both of Rock Island. A sister, Lauretta McFARLAND, and a brother, C. Martin, preceded him in death.
