Elmer ECKLUND, 81, Birmingham, died at 7:15 a.m. today at Jefferson County Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home.

BIRMINGHAM -- Funeral services for Elmer ECKLUND, 81, will be Thursday at 2 p.m., at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Keith Lingwall and the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Military rites will be conducted at Evergreen Cemetery.
ECKLUND died Tuesday at Jefferson County Hospital. He was born March 1, 1896 at Mediapolis, the son of Charles and Mary Louise JOHNSON ECKLUND. On May 3, 1923 he married Myra GRABY. She died Oct. 24, 1955. On Sept. 26, 1957 he married Rhea J. STANSBERRY.
He farmed many years southwest of Fairfield before retiring to Birmingham in 1976. A WWI veteran, he was a member of First Lutheran Church, Fairfield Veterans of WWI and Lions Club and American Legion, both of Birmingham.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Robert of Pleasant Valley and Glenn of Walnut Creek, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Thelma ROLAND of Birmingham, Kay BRUMM and Jeannie DODDS, both of Fairfield; two stepsons, Robert STANSBERRY of Toms River, N.J., John STANSBERRY of McAllen, Tex.; nine grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; one sister, Violet LEWIS of Fairfield and one brother, Alvin ECKLUND of Libertyville. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be tonight, 7:30 to 8:30 at Behner Funeral Home.
