Front Page, Column 3DIPHTHERIA TAKES CARL DESPAIN
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter DeSPAIN was saddened this morning by the death of their son, Carl.
The boy, who is thirteen years old, has been ill about a week with diphtheria. Deceased was born March 1st, 1909 (sic - 1908).
He is survived by his father, mother, grandmother, and one brother, Clarence, two half-brothers, Thurman BAKER of this city and Raymond BAKER of North Dakota, four half-sisters Mrs. Minnie SMITHBURG of Lockridge Mrs. Grace MILLER of Washington, Mrs Dolly SCHAFFER of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Nellie BURROWS of this city.
Private funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at four o'clock in charge of Rev. Cunningham of the Free Methodist church. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
