H. D. DAVIS PASSED AWAY
Short services to be held in Evergreen cemetery on Wednesday

H. D. DAVIS, 79, former well known Jefferson county resident passed away at his home in Marshalltown (note: in Marshall Co., IA) yesterday at 3:30 a.m.

Short services will be held at the grave in the Evergreen cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Harmar D. DAVIS was born in West Newton, Westmoreland county Pennsylvania on April 5, 1869 (sic - 1861). He was a former resident of Jefferson county where he lived almost 60 years of his life.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. H. D. DAVIS, two daughters, Mrs. C. R. SWANSON of Centerville and Mrs. G. F. SWANSON of Marshalltown; three grandsons and three great-grandsons; three sisters, Mrs. J. F. RODGERS, Mrs. Margaret RATCLIFFE, Mrs. Ella BERRAY of Fairfield. One daughter Mrs. Carl RIGGS preceded him in death in December, 1937. Five brothers had preceded him in death.

... --Attending the funeral services held in Marshalltown at 11:00 a.m., yesterday for Hiram DAVIS, who passed away at his home on Sunday April 7, were the following: Mr. and Mrs. J. T. RODGERS, Clarence RODGERS, Mrs. Edith OGDEN, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. BERRAY, Mr. and Mrs. Burdette RODGERS, Mrs. Margaret RATCLIFFE and Mr. and Mrs. Henry BROWN all of Fairfield.

... Several families from here attended the funeral of H. D. DAVIS at Fairfield Wednesday afternoon. The DAVIS' were former residents of Libertyville moving from here to Fairfield, then from there to Marshalltown where they resided at the time of Mr. DAVIS' death. He was well known and well liked here by all as he was always in a good humor, with a friendly smile and cheery greeting for all he met. He will be missed by scores of friends.
