BATAVIA, Ia.--Alex H. DAUB, well known resident of the Batavia community, passed away Saturday afternoon at his farm home three and a half miles southwest of Batavia. His death came at 3:30 p.m. after an illness of about a year.
The body is at the Campbell funeral home in Eldon where last rites are pending.
Alex H. DAUB, 71, was born Aug. 29, 1881, in Illinois, the son of the late Alex and Katherine DAUB. He came to Jefferson county with his parents when he was 11 years of age. He had lived in Jefferson and Wapello counties since, and had lived on the farm where he died for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Batavia Methodist church.
He was united in marriage in 1906 to Maude WARD who survives.
Besides his wife DAUB is survived by two daughters: Mrs. M. V. MOONEY, Ottumwa, and Mrs. Juanita SEDORE, Eldon. He is also survived by four grandchildren; one brother, Andrew DAUB, Fairfield, and four sisters: Mrs. Jess KELLER and Mrs. John H. KELLER, both of Fairfield, and Mrs. Dewey GREY and Mrs. Elmer THOMPSON, both of LeRoy, Kan.
He was preceded in death by one sister and a brother.

Funeral services for Alex H. DAUB, of near Batavia, will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Campbell funeral home in Eldon, with the Rev. Earl Erb in charge. Burial wil be in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield.
