WashingtonMildred Ann GUY, 95, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Halcyon House. Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at United Methodist Church with Pastor Kwang Song officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton (note: in Washington Co., IA). Memorials have been established for Hawkeye Cans for Cancer and the United Methodist Church. Mildred was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Ora and Opal SMITH. She graduated from Fairfield High School. Mildred was united in marriage to Donald Dean GUY on Jan. 4, 1953, in Fairfield, Iowa.
Mildred spent most of her married life in Brighton and moved to Washington in the mid 90s. She assisted her husband in the family farm operation. She was a longtime member of the Brighton United Methodist Church, where she was the choir director until joining the Washington United Methodist Church. Mildred was also a member of PEO.
She is survived by her son, Larry GUY and wife Cindy of Washington, Iowa; granddaughter, Nicole GREINER and husband Mike of Washington, Iowa; two foster grandchildren, Bryan GINGERICH and wife Linda of Plymouth, Minn., and Shelly LANTHIER and husband Mark of Andover, Minn.; nine great-grandchildren, Chase, Caden and Colby GREINER, Creighton and Dawson GUY, Olivia POSTL, Jacob and Zach LANTHIER and Ben GINGERICH; sister, Marian RITER of Plant City, Fla.; and special friend, Bill Chmelar of Washington, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1997; grandson, Nathan GUY; sisters, Alice WHITE, Dorothy LANCE and Beverly SMITH; and brothers, George PAVLIS and Martin MOSCHEL.
