William Marion BRADSHAW, resident of this county since 1839, died at his home a half mile west of Batavia Wed. Native of White County, Tenn., born Sept 15 1828. His father removed to Illinois in 1832 and to Jefferson County in 1839. Mr. BRADSHAW was married to Sarah A. WRIGHT in this county in 1854 [sic - 1853], and eight children were born to them, most of whom are now living. His wife dying, he was again married, Feb 23 1886, to Mrs. Frances DOUGHTY, who survives him. He has a brother and sister now living in this city, J. C. BRADSHAW and Mrs. A. STANFORD. Mr. BRADSHAW had an excellent acquaintance with the earlier history of Jefferson County, and it was said of him that he aided in erecting the first building in Fairfield, and hauled the first load of merchandise brought to the new town. Remains interred at Batavia.....
