Mrs. COWEN, 61, Taken In Death

BIRMINGHAM -- Mrs. Opal M. COWEN, 61, Birmingham, died Monday at 8:05 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital after a serious illness of two weeks.

Services will be held Wednsday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. D. O. Van Dyne. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. COWEN was born Nov. 21, 1904 in Putnam County, Mo., the daughter of Joe and Hettie ADAMS CONGER. She was reared and educated in the Ollie and Packwood communities. She was married to Roy COWEN Nov. 21, 1923. He preceded her in death in 1964 (sic - 1955).

Mrs. COWEN was a member of the Christian Church. She is survived by one son, Roy COWEN Jr., Birmingham; and the following sisters and brother: Mrs. Leona HULTSCH, Lockride; Mrs. Virginia ROOP, Ollie; and Paul CONGER, Rock Island, Ill.

One sister is deceased.
