MRS. H. COURTNEY DIED AT 3 A. M.
Died On Her Wedding Anniversary And Will Be Buried In Fairfield

Mrs. Herchel (sic - Herschel) COURTNEY died this morning at 3 o'clock at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jake COURTNEY at Brighton (note: in Washington Co., IA). Last night at 10 o'clock a little daughter was born to her. Today was her second wedding anniversary. Mrs. COURTNEY will be brought to her home in Sunset addition sometime today, but funeral arrangements have not as yet been completed.

FUNERAL FOR MRS. COURTNEY TOMORROW

The funeral services for Mrs. Herschel COURTNEY who died yesterday morning at 3 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack COURTNEY in Brighton will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian church in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery.

MRS. HERSCHELL COURTNEY

Olive BOTT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. BOTT, was born in Council Bluffs Iowa January 26, 1901 and departed this life at the home of her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake COURTNEY, Brighton, Iowa, Tuesday, July 1 1924.

She came to Jefferson county about twelve years ago. On July 1 1922, she was united in marriage to Herschell COURTNEY. Two daughters were born to this union, Dorothy Fern and Catherine Maxine. Besides her husband and children she is survived by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.

She united with the Christian church February 8, 1920 and passed into the great beyond trusting her Savior to whom she had committed her life.

Funeral services were held in the Fairfield Christian church and were in charge of her pastor Rev. R. H. Polly.

Six of her personal friends acted as flower girls, while her husband's three brothers and brother-in-laws (sic) acted as pall bearers. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.250. Her gravestone notes a birth year of 1899, however her obituaries and death certificate all note a birth year of 1901. Husband Herschel married a second time, to Letha L. GOODELL, died in 1958, and is buried with Ollie.
