Robert "Bob" Dale POHREN was born on November 3, 1952, in Fairfield, to Richard "Pete" and Annabelle CAVINESS POHREN. He grew up in Pleasant Plain and attended Fairfield High School where he graduated with the Fairfield Class of 1971. Bob spent 2 years furthering his education at Parson's (sic) College in Fairfield where he was a member of the wrestling team. On April 6, 1974 he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Rebecca MADDIX at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. This was the first chapter in a story that lasted over 46 years. Together they became loving parents to three children: Joshua, Adam and Anny. They raised their children in Pleasant Plain, living there until 1998. During this time he coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball for many years. Bob worked as a bakery manager at Hy-Vee on two different occasions for a combined 38 years of service and was known for making things from scratch. His kids and grandkids always enjoyed their special birthday cakes made with love. He and Becky also spent several years in Lake of the Ozarks. While living in the Lake area, they opened a furniture store, BearWood Furniture, as well as helped his good friend, Jack, with a new bakery business that is still going strong today.

In 2005, Bob and Becky moved back to Iowa and built a house on Lake Sugema where they have lived since. Bob was a handyman who would tackle anything from house renovation projects to building a cradle for his first grandchild. He enjoyed restoring old cars, motorcycles and Cushman Scooters and was always willing to take time and teach his children during the process. Bob was an animal lover from his pets to the wildlife around him. He had a calm and easy-going nature that was recognized and appreciated by his family and friends. He was a man of few words but you always knew how he felt about you. Above all his greatest joy was spending time with his precious grandchildren.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by his family and those fortunate enough to call him friend.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Richard "Pete" and Annabelle POHREN; one brother, Lawrence POHREN; two nephews, Jeff POHREN and Tom POHREN; and his father-in-law, Carl LOVE.

Left to share his story are his loving wife, Becky POHREN; three children, Joshua (Melissa) POHREN of Wayland, IA, Adam (Vanessa) POHREN of Fairfield, IA, and Anny (Ryan) KUTTER of Republic, MI; six grandchildren, Kai SIMPSON, Jace POHREN, Jaxon POHREN, Arian HAWKINSON, Ella POHREN and Sly POHREN; five siblings, Kay ADAM of Des Moines, IA, Jean (Tony) YELOVICH of South Bend, IN, Dick (Kay) POHREN of Pleasant Plain, IA, Mark POHREN of Fairfield, IA, and Rita POHREN of Florida; mother-in-law, Barbara LOVE; brother-in-law, Randy (Sue) MADDIX; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
