Robert B. CHATFIELD, 78, of Glenwood, Minn., former area resident, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, June 25, 1995, at the hospital in Glenwood.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood. A graveside service will be conducted late Thursday afternoon at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

The services for Robert B. CHATFIELD, 78, of Glenwood, Minn., former area resident, who died Sunday, June 25, 1995, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hoplin Funeral Chapel in Glenwood with Ken Townsend officiating. Burial, with a graveside service, will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation is open today at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 9 tonight.
CHATFIELD was born Dec. 27, 1916, in Wapello, the son of Arthur and Minnie BROWNING CHATFIELD. He graduated from Huron High School. On June 3, 1939, he married Arlene McCLEARY at his brother-in-law's home in Marengo. They farmed in Iowa until 1949.
He owned and operated a nursing home in Ottumwa until they moved to Park Rapids to farm. They raised more than 640 acres of evergreen trees. They moved to Glenwood in 1961, where he was well known as a painter. Pastimes were his farm animals and reading. The couple spent the past 14 winters in Yuma, Ariz.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Sheryl PAULSON of Coon Rapids, Minn., Karen Kupse CHATFIELD of St. Cloud, Minn., Roberta GONZALEZ of Indio, Calif.; a son, Nelson of St. Cloud; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth HUNT of Denver, Colo., and Audrey WILLIAMS of Laguna Hills, Calif. His parents, an infant brother, Herschel, infant sister, Mildred, and a brother, Alden, preceded him in death.

The family of Robert B. CHATFIELD, of Glenwood, MN and a former Jefferson County resident, wishes to thank the relatives and friends who attended the graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery and for the many sympathy cards, memorial gifts, flowers, phone calls and prayers.
Special thanks to Doris and Clyde Davis for their hospitality for our family and to the Baptist Church ladies for the lunch served following the service.
May God bless all of you for your love.
