Robert Jean CHAMP

KEOSAUQUA - Robert Jean CHAMP, 69, of Keosauqua died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, with the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery at Fairfield.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

The son of Fay O. and Eulalia CARLOW CHAMP, he was born at Fairfield on March 12, 1928. A 1946 graduate of Fairfield High School, he lived most of his life in Fairfield. He married Ethelmae GUSTASON on April 9, 1950 in Fairfield. They later divorced. He was employed as a clerk at the Fairfield Post Office, and also had worked on the maintenance crew for the Iowa Department for Transportation. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a lifetime member of Fairfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2271. He also was a member of Eagles Lodge (sic - Club/Aerie) No. 1927.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by five brothers, Oren, Craig, Wayne, Clarence and Marion; and by a sister, Elizabeth Jean.

Survivors include two sons, Michael of Ottumwa and Richard of Lawton, Okla.; two daughters, Jeannine LEDBETTER of Richland, Mo., and Bobbi OSBERG of Urbandale; a brother, John of Waterloo; three sisters, Kathryn and Charlotte, both of Fairfield, and Mary KISLING of Keosauqua; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
