THE BOYS of 1861--56.

Comrade Al CASE has been seriously ill since last friday with peumonia (sic). His recovery is thought to be very doubtful.

Later--Comrade CASE died this morning at I0;10 o'clock (sic).

LOCAL MISCELLANY.

... A Soldier of the Civil War.

Albert CASE, the well known insurance agent, died in this city Saturday, after a week's illness from pneumonia. He had been a resident of this county since boyhood, almost fifty years. Mr. CASE was born in Ohio April 22d, 1846, and came to Iowa with his parents in 1854, when the family located on a farm in Round Prarie (sic) township. At the age of eighteen he enlisted in Company I, Thirteenth Iowa infantry, and served until the close of the war. He had an excellent military record. March 28th, 1883, he was married to Miss Belle HICKENBOTTOM, who, with two children, Nellie and James, survives him. Mr. CASE had three brothers who are well known in this county--William, Theodore and Augustus, while three sisters reside here, Mrs. Anna COX, Mrs. Margaret FELL and Mrs. Mary TURNER. His death will be regretted by his old comrades in arms and many friends throughout Jefferson county. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. H. S. Gilliam. George Strong post and the Woman's Relief corps attended the funeral in a body.

Comrade Albert CASE, whose death was announced in this paper last Friday was born in Ohio April 22nd, 1846. At the age of 8 years he came with his parents to this county and resided with his parents on a farm near Glasgow. In 1883 he was married to Belle HICKENBOTTOM. Three children were born to them, one dying in infancy. Nellie aged 17, James aged 13, with their mother survive him, also three brothers and three sisters, all but one were present at his death and funeral. He died Friday October 2nd at 10:10 o'clock in the morning. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. S. Gilliam Sabbath afternoon at 2 o'clock. The G. A. R's. and W. R. C's. attended the services in a body, performing the last rites to a comrade. The funeral was largely attended. At the age of 18 years he enlisted in the 13th Iowa Inft., and served to the close of the war. He had lots of friends and as one of them we shall miss him. ...
