By Mrs. J. E. Prince, Fairfield... News came to us early Sunday morning of the death of Miss Susie CARRIGAN. Miss Susie had been ailing for some time, cancer having made inroads in her delicate system. She submitted to an operation some time ago. Susie was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. CARRIGAN, Sr., and was born near Burlington, February 26, 1866, and with her parents, brothers and sister, the family moved to Jefferson county, near Beckwith, having purchased what was then known as the David Keltner farm. They have lived continuously on the same farm.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church of Fairfield, and nothing but sickness ever kept her from attending the services. Four years ago the mother passed away, leaving the care of an aged father, who has now passed his ninetieth birthday upon her slender shoulders, which duty she faithfully performed as long as her health permitted. She is also survived by a brother, Will, and wife, of Ottumwa, and a sister, Mary Florentra, who has been a sister in the convent at Dubuque for many years. Also, a cousin, Margaret FLYNN, of Fairfield, and a host of friends are left to mourn(.) The last services are being held at 9 o'clock this Tuesday, at the Catholic church and the remains will be laid to rest beside her mother in Evergreen cemetery.
