DIPHTHERIA is causing much alarm in Fairfield this week, and much that is uncalled for. It is true there are some cases of that disease but they are generally in a light form and but few serious cases are reported. Parents become so alarmed the first of the week that scores of the children were taken from school. Indeed some of the room were almost deserted. There is probably no more danger, nor half so much, of the children catching diphtheria at school as there is of their catching it by running around in the wet and cold air of the last few days. So far we have heard of but one death from this cause, that of Burrie R. BYRKIT the little eight-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. BYRKIT, who died last Thursday.
