Mary Luella LAMME, wife of William G. BURKHART, died at her home three miles west of the city Thursday morning. While she had been ill for three or four weeks, her condition was not considered serious until two or three days before death came. Mrs. BURKHART was born in Des Moines county in 1869, and was reared there. She came to this county with other members of the family in the spring of 1894, and resided on a farm a few miles west of the city. She was married September 23d, 1896, and was the mother of one child, a daughter of three years. She was a woman of education and intelligence, and was highly esteemed as neighbor and friend, while to her family she discharged faithfully and well every duty which came to her. She has two brothers and a sister, J.R., N. A. and Miss Laura LAMME, living in this county. The sympathy of the community will go out to the husband and family in this deep affliction. The remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery, this city, Saturday morning, Rev. S. A. Soxe, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, conducting the exercises.
